Censured by his own board. Asked to resign. Still in office.
Trustee Robert “Bob” Reminga posted a “Muslim Hunting Permit” to Facebook. Within 48 hours the Plainfield Township Board of Trustees voted to censure him and asked him to step down. He hasn’t. We’re organizing now so that if he won’t resign, voters can remove him.
A Muslim “Hunting Permit,” posted by a sitting township trustee
Plainfield Township Trustee Bob Reminga has a well-known history of making extreme comments online. In August he chose to post an image on Facebook of a “Muslim Hunting Permit” meme that was easily interpreted as religious bigotry and a political threat.
Within 48 hours, the Plainfield Board of Trustees called an emergency meeting and voted to censure Robert Reminga and ask him to resign.
Bob has denied posting the image. But in addition to his long and vulgar history of posting online, the account that posted the meme is almost certainly Bob’s: it is extensively connected to the verified accounts of local and statewide Republican candidates, consultants, and elected officials, including Senate candidate Mike Rogers, congressional candidate Terri DeBoer, Ottawa Impact founder Joe Moss, and disgraced former RNC committee member Dave Agema.
What happened
- August 2026 The “Muslim Hunting Permit” image is posted from Bob Reminga’s Facebook account.
- Within 48 hours The Plainfield Township Board of Trustees holds an emergency meeting, votes to censure Reminga, and asks him to resign.
- Now Bob denies posting the image and remains in office.
- November 2026 If he hasn’t resigned, we petition for a recall election.
If Bob won’t resign, we recall him
Michigan law allows recalls of elected officials serving four-year terms once they have served for a year. If Bob does not resign before his first year in office is over in November, we will begin a petition to schedule a recall election after the snow melts in 2027.
Signing up here for more information is the best way to make sure you are notified when the petition starts.
Between now and then we will be organizing, building infrastructure, and encouraging Bob to resign. If you have ideas about how you can help us, or you just want to get involved, sign up with us today.
Sign up. We’ll tell you when the petition starts.
